Fix connections to bluetooth audio
devices and wireless displays in windows 10. This document applies to
the HP and Compaq running Windows 10 or Windows 8
computers.
Bluetooth wireless technology provides Wi - Fi short-range
communications that replace physical cable connections that usually
connect electronic devices, such as printers, audio devices and
computers.
On some HP and Compaq computers, the
network Bluetooth connectivity feature is sometimes preinstalled. If
not, you can add this functionality to your computer through the
Bluetooth hardware installation. To install the Bluetooth hardware,
it may be sufficient to insert a USB Bluetooth dongle into a free USB
port, wait that Windows detects it, and then configure the new
hardware.
Tips to detect a Bluetooth device
If Windows is unable to detect a
Bluetooth device, verify the following items:
If the Wi - Fi communication is
disabled, or if the airplane mode is enabled, the computer does not
send and receives no signal Bluetooth. Proceed as follows to activate
the Wi - Fi:
On Windows, locate and open enable
or disable wireless communications.
Check the status of the wireless
devices. Verify that the Wi - Fi is enabled and that airplane mode
is disabled.
Check that the Bluetooth feature is
turned on and discoverable
Make sure that the Bluetooth function
is enabled and set to discoverable mode on the device. Set device to
discoverable mode uses radio signals to broadcast its position to

- Check the settings and the location of the device
Make sure that the device is
turned on, its battery is sufficiently charged and that it is not in
standby mode.
Make sure that the device is at
your computer wireless range, generally between 1.8 and 2.7 metres.
If you are not sure that the device is within range, move the
computer or place the device and the computer in the same room.
Check that no other device does
interfere with wireless device, such as a microwave, cordless phones
or other wireless devices.
If your computer uses an external
Bluetooth adapter, make sure that it is connected, installed and
working properly.
If Bluetooth is integrated into
your computer, including a laptop, make sure that the Bluetooth
radio transmitter is on. Many laptops include a button to turn on or
off the transmitter. If you do not know how to turn on the
transmitter, refer to the information provided with your computer or
go to the manufacturer's Web site.
